Orthopaedics is further giving birth to subspecialities like spine, replacement surgeries, paediatric orthopaedics ( Deals with disorders of children, hand surgeries, traumatology( Deals with Trauma), Foot and Ankle Surgery etc. The day is not far when these specialities would become different subjects all together. This is natural evolution of medicine. As the work and scientific advancement occurs in a field more and more people join hands to work. With different people focussing on different set of problems further subspecialities are carved where a person reads more and more about less and less.

Orthopaedics literally means straight child ( Ortho- Straight, paedics - Child). What started as a field of deformity correction in the early period has now developed into a full subject with so many further ramifications. As a whole orthopaedics is concerned with study, diagnosis and treatment of problems affecting bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, nerves and spine. The area of body covered are spine, upper limbs including shoulder and clavicular region, lower limbs including pelvis.
It is concerned with injuries in these region, local problems in these area and problems arising in these regions due to more generalised problems.

For one year or so I had been procrastinating inauguration of this website. I always wanted to create a website on my field i.e. Orthopaedics from perspective of a common man and patient. There are many a website available for doctors in this field but very few for the other part of the population.
This site is basically for the people who would like to search for information on orthopaedics or would like to ask some question related to their problem. As the site comes on track I have plans for introducing an interface where people can ask their specific queries.
Orthopaedics as a specialty is still a mystery to the common unaware person. There are so many myths that are perpetuated from one to another just because people do not know. A doctor can provide the treatment and care required but would not be able to change the mindset. The beliefs and myths are challenged by knowledge and wisdom. The knowledge comes with awareness. This is my endeavour to make people aware about their musculoskeletal ( Pertaining to bones, muscles and associated structures) health. We will be discussing orthopaedic health mostly.
I request you to spread the word about this site. This will result in more people visiting and benefiting from this place. Help me to spread the awareness. When you learn teach others.
Being a doctor I will be using my medical jargon too often. I will try and make it simple by footnotes or parenthesis. If there is still something which is not understood you are free to ask. ( There would a forum soon).
I am planning to invite some like minded people to write and help me to grow this site. They all are successful people. But I would request them to take some time out for this project. My task would become easier with their help.
This is a purely non commercial venture and totally voluntary. I am bearing the cost of running and maintaining this website. To make this project viable, the website has to become self sustaining. Till that moment I am determined to push it on my own.
I am in conversation with some people who have expressed to extend financial help to this project. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Pray for me.
