For more than four years, this website has managed to deal with large number of health queries and concerns from across the globe. Answers were delayed more often than required but more or less it served the purpose.
All a reader had to do was to ask the question in the comment section after the post and in due course it would be answered. But that was obvious stuff.
What happened behind the scenes.
After you submit your comment, I get a mail from my website that a user has submitted a new comment. I could answer it right there or choose to queue it.
Most of the time the query was queued due to my at the moment engagements
This system was okay but lacked few desirable things.
For example, it did not present an ongoing discussion on a particular topic that a reader started. comment would be followed by other comments and the continuity was lacking.
There are few sections on this website where readers wanted to interact with others but I could not allow due to limitation of the software. Users wanted to exchange mails and get to know each other. I could not allow that owing to security issues.
What this website needed was a forum and I tried earlier but burned my hands with spam issues.
SO this time I decided to invest in a software that is known in forum sphere - Vbulletin
