Fracture Of Medial Condyle Of Right Femur – Anteroposterior and Lateral Xray

Xrays of condyles of femur  are common injuries. Lateral condyle injuries are more common as compared to medial condyle. If undisplaced the medial condyle fractures can be managed by non operative means. Displaced fractures require open reduction and internal fixation.

Following xray belongs to a 39 years old male who got injured following fall from bicycle.

Undisplaced Fracture Of Neck Of Femur – Anteroposterior Xray

Undisplaced fractures of neck of femur are not common in adults. Recently a man of 37 years of age collided his bike with a tractor that was coming from opposite side and suffered many injuries which included fracture of upper end right humerus, open comminuted fracture of lower end of femur of right side and undisplcaed fracture of ipsilateral neck of femur.

The person was operated upon immediately for temporary stabilization of open femoral fracture and splint was applied to upper arm injury.

The patient is yet to undergo definitive surgery.

Post Reduction Xray Of Shoulder Dislocation With Fracture of Greater Tuberosity

The xray belongs to 70 years old female who fell in the bathroom and suffered from injury in the right shoulder.
The xray revealed fracture of greater tuberosity along with dislocation of shoulder.

The following xray is of 28 years old young man who fell from stairs. fracture-radius-ulna-distal-third The xray shows fracture of radius and ulna bone in middle third and distal third junction.

Such fractures need anatomical reduction by open reduction and need to fixed by plating.

Concomitant fractures of tibia and femur are increasing due to increase in motor vehicular trauma. The following images are radiographs of a young man who suffered from injury to his femur and tibia when his bike struck with an auto-rickshaw and he was toppled over.

Following xray is of the thigh bone. A fracture in middle third – lower third is visible along with a butterfly fragment.

Fracture of Pubic Bone – Anteroposterior View Of Pelvis

47 years old lady was hit by a tractor trolley resulting in fall. The lady was brought to casualty with complaints of pain in back and around the hip. She was not able to bear weight on right lower limb. Xrays of back and pelvis were done fter initial assessment.

The xray of spine was normal. Xray pelvis revealed following picture.

The xray showed fracture of pubis bone [Arrows show the extent].

The patient is being managed with analgesics, supportive therapy and rest and is showing imporvement.

Fracture Of Lateral Condyle of Humerus In A Child – Anteroposterior and Lateral Views

Fracture of lateral condyle is a very common fracture in the children. Following xray is of an eleven year old boy who fell down while playing.

On left hand side is the lateral view which also shows dislocation of elbow whereas on right hand side is anteroposterior view.

The boy was treated with open reduction and internal fixation using three kwires.

Fracture Of Radial Head – Anteroposterior View of Elbow

Radial head fractures occur in isolation or in association with fracture dislocations around elbow. The following xray is of 37 years old male who suffered trauma to his right elbow following a fall in a pit.

The patient presented to us about 3 weeks after the injury and was treated by radial head excision.

It is worthy of noting that had this patient presented earlier, there were strong chances of radial head preservation.

Dislocation of Elbow With Fracure of Radial Neck – Anteroposterior and Lateral Views

45 years old lady came to out patient department with a history of fall from two wheeler 3 days back and complained of swelling in left elbow and inability to use the limb.

On examination there was tenderness around the elbow and any movement elicited the pain. An xray of elbow that she had carried along revealed following picture.

Though the xray is not of good quality, it is able to show the dislocation and radial neck fracture.
The patient was offered treatment by closed reduction of elbow and if required open reduction and fixation of radial neck.

Patient due to some personal reasons refused the treatment. She did not visit in follow up also.
