For paralysed limbs, there are three reconstructive options available
Tendon Transfers
Tendon transfers involve transferring the insertion of the tendon that could be spared for the purpose at the site where the paralyzed tendon is.
Tenodesis or Capsulodesis
Tenodesis orcapsulodesis is done when suitable tendons for transfer are not available.
Arthrodesis
Arthordesis is considered when either there are no tendons available for transfer or when tendons could be made available by fusing the joint.
For example, the function of digit extensors is poor but wrist extensors are good. One of the option that can be considered is wrist arthrodesis in functional position and transfer of the wrist extensors to digits.
