Clinical Photo of A Scar And Discharging Sinus


This is a clinical photograph of a patient showing a big scar and discharging sinus over the anterior aspect of arm.

Note the glistening fluid mark over the elbow and upper part of forearm. This is trickling discharge from the sinus.

Sinus is visible as red spot in the scar line about two finger breadths above the elbow fold.

Author’s Note


This patient had undergone surgery previously, after which he developed sinus and continued discharge from it. Patient has got chronic osteomyelitis.

Chronic osteomyelitis is a chronic infection of the bone which presents as discharging sinus, bony swelling and bony changes on xray including irregualrity of the cortex and presence of sequestrum in most of cases.

    hie i have had chronic osteomyelitis of the femur for the past 13 years and have an open wound which oozes pus for the past 13 years,. pliz help me i am from zimbabwe and i dont have money for ttreatment is this disease life threatening and do i face amputation??? pliz help me
