    I once received a similar fracture in the ER but it was associated with a posterior shoulder dislocation . It was very critical to deal with it .

    sir, I had a 3 part humerus fracture involving proximal end on 23.8.08 while riding a two wheeler and I was operated and fracture reduced with a butress plate on 26.08.08. When my operated site was X rayed on 27.8.08,there was no gap found at the fractured site. But on 26.9.08 the X ray picture shows some gap and the surgeon said the bone is uniting well and do excercises. why there is a gap in the latest X ray ?. whether it is due to normal calcification and growth or due to misplacement of the fractured pieceses.Kindly clarify. Till today I evince pain on sitting.

    @Zayd

    Nice to meet you. Yes! It can become difficult to reduce this fracture if it is associated with dislocation.

    Care writing further about your experience.

    Dear Sir,
    I fell 4 weeks ago in the yard while running with my children. No trauma injuries were suspected. I am 45 years old and moderately active. two weeks ago I got a head and chest cold and immediately began experiencing pain in upper humerus. The pain has subsided and then increased. It relieves when I adduct arm to my ribs. Could the arm have had some slight injury and the infection from my cold set up in the arm? Pain has seemed like bone pain, muscle pain and nerve pain and has migrated around to brachial, bicep and tricep areas.

  6. Dr Arun Pal Singh says:

    Jim,

    Pain in the arm following a cold is unlikely. It could most probably be due to trauma.

    It would be better to consult a physician so that your problrm can be investigated.

    Sir,
    I was undergone surgery of commuted fracture upper end humerus on left hand shoulder with transplant of a ball having lollypop shape with one screw on 22 Jan 2009 in Sancheti hospital Pune. After that 3 months have been passed & there is very slow progress in the movements by left hand. My age is 28 running & transplant is of stainless steel.
    I want to know whether I regained all of my natural moves by this hand & if not then what % of movement I can gain & how long will it take?

  8. Dr Arun Pal Singh says:

    Can you please mail me xray after the surgery. This would help me to understand what procedure has been done.
