Sacral Agenesis

Sacral [or lumbosacral agenesis in severe cases where lumbar spine is also involved] characterized by absence of the variable portion of the caudal portion of the spine. It is a very rare deformity.

Patients with this deformity lack motor function at the affected vertebral level and sensory functions below the affected level.

DNA Test Can Predict The Progression Risk Of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

As per new research published recently in Spine , DNA-based test can identify patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis who have minimal risk for progression to a curvature that will require surgery.

Only about 1% of patients diagnosed as having scoliosis have a serious progressive disease. If the patients in whom the curve would not worsen  a huge boost to the treatment of scoliosis and would save the patient trauma and stress of fear of progression.
