Name for arcuate line comes from Latin arcus which means bow or arch. Arcuate line is rounded ridge-like line on the medial surface of the ilium. It projects from the auricular apex posteriorly to the iliopectineal eminence anteriorly where it becomes continuous with the pectineal line.
